  • Colm Meaney is an actor in both television and film. He wanted to become an actor at a very early age but he spent some time in a fisherman training program. Knowing this was not his dream, he attended the Abbey Theater School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland and then he joined the Irish National Theater Company. Eventually he went on the English stage in various productions in London theaters and then started to pursue a career in television.
  • Global Vision

    After moving to the United States, he lived in Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan. Still working on the stages in London, he found himself traveling back and forth. Eventually he went on and played parts on American television and finally he was hired for a major role in Encounter at Fairpoint which was the pilot for The Next Generation. He was given the role of Chief Miles Edward O' Brian and he became a major part of the cast. His character was then launched into Deep Space Nine.
  • Films

    Moving to Los Angeles, he made his film debut in Omega 7/Omega Syndrome. Then he jetted back to Ireland for a role in the movie The Dead. Even though he continued to work in television in the Star Trek series, his film roles continued.
  • No Rest

    Colm Meaney's films include Come See the Paradise, Dick Tracy, Die Hard 2: Die Harder, The Commitments, Far and Away and The Last of the Mohicans. The next three of his films were made in Ireland and he has starred in numerous other films and television productions. He has also continued with off-Broadway theater and has starred in The Cider House Rules and Here in St Cloud's.
