- Teams must win at least six games and have a .500 or better record to be bowl eligible

At the conclusion of the college football season, the NCAA Division I programs that have at least six wins and a non-losing record are eligible to be selected to play in one of over 30 bowl games. Since 1998, the Bowl Championship Series has determined a national champion by selecting the top two points-getters for its BCS Championship Game.
The match-ups for all 34 bowl games were announced live on FOX on December 6, 2009. Most notably, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns were selected to play in the BCS Championship Game. -
