Colin Firth is a film, television, and stage actor, originally from England. In 1995 he appeared in a television-adapted version of Pride and Prejudice. After this he received notable attention within the United Kingdom. Firth later starred in the film Bridget Jones's Diary in 2001. His most recent performance took place in the 2009 film, A Single Man. For his role, he earned a BAFTA award (for Best Actor).

Currently, Colin Firth was nominated for a 2010 Oscar award for the same film, A Single Man. The category of his nomination was Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Although he did not win, this marks Collin's first Academy Award nomination and would have been his first Oscar win. The Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role award was announced at the 2010 Academy Awards presentation, on March 7, 2010.
