Cody Ross

  • Major League Baseball outfielder Cody Ross currently plays for the Florida Marlins.

    Ross was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers on June 2, 1999. He was placed with the Tigers' minor league affiliates for his first four years. In 2000 he was selected by Baseball America as the Best Tigers Outfield Arm. He was called up on April 7, 2003 and made his MLB debut with the Tigers. The same year he was named the Tigers Minor League Player of the Year, playing in a total of six major league games that season.

    On April 1, 2004, the Tigers traded Ross to the Los Angeles Dodgers and again placed in the minors. Ross joined the Dodgers for a total of 22 games, before being traded again, this time to the Cincinnati Reds on April 24, 2006. Just over a month later Ross was traded to the Florida Marlins. Ross finished the season with the Marlins, playing in a career high 91 games, missing time for a bruised left finger in May. He rejoined the Marlins during the 2007 season, although was only able to play in 66 games due to a recurring hamstring injury. Ross re-signed a one-year contract with the Marlins on March 2, 2008.
