Free safety Cody Grimm is a professional football player who is a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football League. College Football Career
While Grimm joined the Virginia Tech Hokies in 2005, he did not play, instead choosing to redshirt his first season. Grimm went on to make his debut as a freshman in 2006, playing primarily on special teams in all 13 games with the Hokies and totaling 10 tackles. During his sophomore season, Grimm saw three starts as part of the special-teams unit, also playing in 15 defensive snaps over 14 games. In 2008 as a junior at Virginia Tech, Grimm had a break-out season in which he recorded 71 tackles, seven quarterback hurries, three pass defense, two interceptions and one pass break-up. This was little in comparison to his senior season, which earned Grimm numerous awards. On the year, Grimm tallied 106 tackles, including 50 solo, nine quarterback hurries, seven forced fumbles, five pass break-ups, five pass defenses and two fumble recoveries. As a result, Grimm was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week three times, an All-ACC and All-American player and the Chick-fil-A Bowl Defensive MVP.
