In July of 2008 Codeweavers issued a "Great American Lame Duck Presidential Challenge" to George W. Bush, detailing several "attainable, positive goals for the United States" and promising that, if any one of the goals is met during the specified time frame, every American will have access to Codeweavers software for free for one day.Codeweavers: Challenge press release (October 27, 2008) On October 27, 2008 one of the goals was inadvertently met when the economic collapse caused gasoline prices in the Twin Cities to drop below $2.79 a gallon. Codeweavers gave away one free copy of their CrossOver software to everyone who wanted one on October 28, 2008.
