Early Life
Covelli Loyce Crisp was born in Los Angeles, California on November 1, 1979. He would attend Inglewood High School in Los Angeles. He would move on to Los Angeles Pierce College where he would develop into a Major League Baseball caliber player.MLB.com: Coco CrispPro Career
Crisp was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the seventh round of the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft. He would make his debut on August 15, 2002 with the Cardinals. He would later be traded to the Cleveland Indians. In 2006, he would be traded to the Boston Red Sox. He was originally obtained as a replacement for popular outfielder Johnny Damon, and was unable to live up to the expectations. He would struggle in the 2007 playoff run and would eventually lose his starting position to heralded prospect Jacoby Ellsbury. In 2008, his status diminished to role player on the Red Sox to start the season and is a frequent name mentioned in trade rumors.MLB.com: Coco CrispCoco Crisp Timeline
