Coby Karl is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball League. He is the son of NBA Coach George Karl. Among his notable accomplishments is overcoming thyroid cancer to play in the National Basketball Association, and making the Los Angeles Lakers squad as an undrafted player out of training camp.
Early Life
Coby Karl was born in Mequon, Wisconsin on June 8, 1983. He is the son of NBA Coach George Karl. He would attend Homestead High School where he would develop into a premiere college prospect. He would attend Boise State University, where he was named to the All-WAC second team. While in College he would also undergo Chemotherapy for Papillary Carcinoma.
Pro Career
Coby Karl would not be selected in the 2007 NBA Draft but would make the roster for the Los Angeles Lakers out of training camp. He would alternate back and forth throughout the 2007 Season between the Lakers and their developmental team the Los Angeles D-Fenders. He would finish the season with the Lakers, and would play his father's team the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.
