Club Med was founded in 1950 by Gerard Blitz in Mallorca, Spain. I became the first all-inclusive resort. Since its conception over 80 different villages have been opened across five continents.
The fee to join the original Club Med was 300 French Francs. That did not include the cost of a two-week vacation which ran 15, 900 francs.
In 1995 the club went from being a not-for-profit organization to for-profit public limited company although the joining and membership fees have remained intact.
The vacation packages include lodging, food, use of facilities, sports activities, games, and shows however certain kinds of alcohol are not included.
