Cloverfield is an American motion picture from Paramount Pictures about five people attempting to escape from New York during a battle between the Army and an impossibly large rampaging creature. Cloverfield is entirely composed of faux-"found footage" from hand-held video cameras and other sources.

Viral Campaign
Cloverfield, similar to the 1999 film The Blair Witch Project is presented with the conceit that everything seen is real footage taken by a hand-held camera in real time, and that the events of the movie actually happened. In keeping with the ersatz documentary style, Paramount Pictures launched an immersive promotional campaign, mostly through the use of a number of web sites.9/11 References
Giant monster aside, much of Coverfield features New York City residents dealing with the catastrophic destruction of a portion of the city. Sequences depicting paper and debris falling from the sky, collapsing skyscrapers, and a dust storm of ash raging past storefronts evoke the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
