  • Aides in the Barack Obama Campaign have reported plans to offer Hillary Clinton a "dignified exit" from the campaign for the Democratic candidacy in the 2008 Presidential Election.

The offer is intended to diffuse a potentially divisive battle that could extend beyond the last primaries and hurt the Democratic candidate's chances in the general election.

  • The Deal

It has been reported that if Clinton bows out of the primary race, ceding the party's nomination to Obama, she will be given an appointment as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

This cabinet position is instrumental in forming national health policy.

For more than a decade, heath care has been an issue for Clinton, and with this offer she will get to play a key role in planning the future of American health care.

The Obama campaign has stated that he will not be asking Clinton to join him as a Vice Presidental running mate.
