Founded in 1901, Cleveland's baseball team was one of the American League's eight original franchises. The team first began playing in 1900 as the Cleveland Blues. This was during the time which the AL was still officially a minor league. Beginning in 1960, the Indians would hit a slump that would last 30 years. They would finally see some success again in 1989. The Indians won the AL pennant in 1995 and faced the Atlanta Braves in the World Series. However, Cleveland would lose to Atlanta in 6 games. The Indians would continue to have success, winning the AL pennant again in 1997, as well as 7 Central Division titles from 1995 to 2007.
