In Major League Baseball, the rules state that the Cleveland Indians and all other clubs must have a 25-man roster. http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/team/roster_active.jsp?c_id=cle
This consists of pitchers, infielders, outfields, and, in the American League, the designated hitter. Teams usually carry six position players - four to play the field and two to fill in as utility players. As for outfielders, three players fill the positions of left, center, and right field but teams always keep a fourth outfielder as well. In the American League teams also have a designated hitter on the roster. Throw in two catchers, and the rest of the roster is comprised of the pitching staff, both starters and relievers.
While only 25 players can be with the major league squad, Major League Baseball teams also have an expanded 40-man roster, which is comprised of players on the active, 25-man roster, players on the disabled list, and minor league players. http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=cle
The Cleveland Indians work with a number of minor league teams at different levels, calling players up and sending others down, whether it be for poor performance or injury rehabilitation. The AAA affiliate is the Columbus Clippers, the AA affiliate is the Akron Aeros, the high-A affililate is the Kinston Indians, the low-A affiliate is the Lake County Captains, and the Indians' short-season A team is the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/mlb/minorleagues/affiliates/index.jsp?c_id=cle

Best All-Time Combination
One of the best combinations in Cleveland Indians history has to be the double play duo of shortstop Omar Vizquel and second baseman Roberto Alomar. From 1999 to 2001, Vizquel and Alomar - two players who are sure to end up in the Baseball Hall of Fame - dazzled sold-out crowds at Jacobs Field with their defense. Their pairing came near the end of the Indians' perennial reign atop the American League, but it was exciting nonetheless. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2001.shtml
How about the entire 1995 Cleveland Indians? This team won the second-most games in franchise history and was an absolute force offensively. Despite not winning the World Series - the Indians lost to the Atlanta Braves in six games - this team made every game exciting and rejuvenated the city's interest in a team that was stuck in the basement for so long. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CLE/1995.shtml
