The first major impact player for the Cleveland Browns has to be Jim Brown. He was selected in the first round in the 1957 draft and was a fierce running back and fullback. He went down as one of the greatest players to ever play in a Browns uniform. Jim Brown left the NFL as the record holder for both single-season (1,863 in 1963) and career rushing (12,312 yards), as well as the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns (106), total touchdowns (126) and all-purpose yards (15,549). Another legend that played for the Browns was quarterback, Bernie Kosar. He went undrafted and ended up being the Browns number one quarterback for many years. He finished with 124 touchdown passes, 87 interceptions with 23,301 throwing yards and had an 81.8 quarterback rating. In 1978 Ozzie Newsome was called in the second round by the Cleveland Browns. He played all 13 season with the Browns and had 662 receptions, 7,980 yard that averaged 12.1 per catch with 47 touchdowns. In the 1972 NFL draft the Cleveland Browns selected Brian Sipe, quarterback from San Diego State. He played all 10 seasons with the Browns and threw for 154 touchdowns, 149 interceptions, and 23,713 yards all while having a 74.8 quarterback rating.
When the Browns came back to Cleveland in 1999 the Browns decided to choose a franchise quarterback to build a future around. The drafted Tim Couch, quarterback from Kentucky who played a short dismal 5 seasons with the Browns, throwing for 64 touchdowns, 67 interceptions just over 11 thousand yards and had a 75.1 quarterback rating. He is now out of the NFL and not playing football for the NFL anymore. Trying to continue to find a quarterback to build around they decided to trade up in the first round and grab Brady Quinn from Notre Dame, who was highly reguarded as the best quarterback for the draft, and he was a hometown native. In 3 seasons with the Browns he threw for 8 touchdowns, 7 interceptions and just over one thousand yards before being traded to the Denver Broncos.http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=1050&type=team<ref>
