  • The Clemson Tigers is a college football team that plays in the ACC. The Tigers were one of the founding members of the ACC in 1953. They have won 13 conference championships in the league, giving them an overall total of 18.

    On October 13, 2008, the Tigers fired head coach Tommy Bowden. Assistant head coach Dabo Swinney served interim coach, helping the Tigers finish the 2008 season 7-5.     One of the unique advantages the Tigers enjoy is their home field, Memorial Stadium, otherwise known as "Death Valley". As players enter the stadium to take the field, they stop to rub "Howard's Rock" and then go "Running Down the Hill" towards the field.
  • "They're Grrrrreat!"

    In 1981, led by coach Danny Ford, the Tigers completed an undefeated regular season and defeated Nebraska in the 1982 Orange Bowl to win their only national championship. The team was lead by unanimous All-American safety Terry Kinard, linebacker Jeff Davis, wishbone quarterback Homer Perry and first-team All-American wide receiver Perry Tuttle. Also on that team was William Refrigerator Perry and Kevin Mack. Other great players from Clemson's history include Gaines Adams, Trevor Pryce, Brian Dawkins, Steve Fuller, Dwight Clark, Chester McGlockton, Levon Kirkland and Charlie Waters.
