Football player Clark Haggans is a starting linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL. He has been with the Cardinals since 2008 after spending the first eight years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers drafted Haggans in the fifth round selection of the 2000 NFL draft with the 137th selection overall. After playing in 707 games for the Steelers during his first eight years in the league, Haggans signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals as an unrestricted free agent on March 27, 2008. The move reunited him with former Steelers assistant coach Ken Whisenhunt, who has been Cardinals head coach since 2007. Haggans re-signed with the Cardinals on March 17, 2009, agreeing to a three-year deal as an unrestricted free agent.
Haggans attended Colorado State University and played for the Rams from 1995-1999. He originally was a walk-on defensive end but finished his career as Colorado State’s all-time sacks leader with 33. He was a second-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection in 1998 and first-team All-Mountain West Conference award winner in 1999.
Haggans lettered in football, basketball and track at Peninsula High School in Rolling Hills Estates, California, earning three letters in each sport. He was named all-league as a tight end and defensive tackle in 1993 and 1994 while also earning all-division honors. 2009 Season
Haggans played in all 16 regular-season games with 14 starts, and he started both playoff games for Arizona. Haggans recorded 74 tackles, five sacks and two forced fumbles. Both forced fumbles came in victories, at the Jacksonville Jaguars, 31-17 on September 20 and at the Seattle Seahawks, 27-3 on October 18. 2008 Season
Haggans played in 11 games for the Cardinals before an injured left foot forced him to injured reserve on December 19. The 11 games were the fewest appearance for Haggans since his rookie season. Haggans first hurt his foot against the Seattle Seahawks on November 16 and missed two games. He reinjued the foot in the second quarter against the St. Louis Rams on December 7 and was lost for the season. 2007 Season
Haggans started all 16 games for the first time in his career while also starting in the AFC Wild Card game for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
