Clara Rojas

Clara Rojas and Ingrid Betancourt were captured by FARC rebels in early 2006. At the time of their capture, Betancourt was campaigning for the presidential elections. Rojas was traveling with Betancourt as an aid.

Rojas and Betancourt had been warned by authorities not to travel to the demilitarized zone but went anyway. Rojas was released on January 10, 2008, but Betancourt was not released until July 2, 2008.Reuters: Colombia rescues hostage Ingrid Betancourt
