Osilise Claiborne Meredith was born in Richmond, Virginia on June 4, 1983. He attended college at Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2004, Meredith was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 6th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.Baseball-Reference.com: Cla MeredithPro Career
On May 8, 2005, Meredith made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox. In 2006, he was traded to the San Diego Padres with Josh Bard for Doug Mirabelli.
