In 2007, Adler and his band Whitestarr took part in the VH1 reality series The Rock Life. The show focused on the band recording an album while living in a multi-million dollar mansion in Malibu, California.During the filming of the show, a nude photo of Adler was leaked onto the internet. According to Adler, the photo was stolen from a storage facility Paris Hilton had been renting. The controversy ended his relationship with actress Mischa Barton.
