    According to the The National Enquirer, Foster had an affair with Mort. The two reportedly met on the set of the movie The Brave One in 2006. It is not known when the romantic relationship reportedly began. The 33-year-old Mort wrote the screenplay for the film, which earned Foster a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a drama.

    The Daily Mail quotes an unidentified source as saying Bernard "had no idea their relationship was in trouble" and that she was "devastated."
