    The Cinco de Mayo festival in Puebla, Mexico is one of over 300 Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Mexico. There locals and visitors alike dress up to reenact the historic Battle of Puebla where 4,500 Mexican men defeated a professional army of 8,000 of Napoleon Bonaparte's soldiers.   • Celebrations Canceled Due to Swine Flu

    In 2009, many cities in the United States and Mexico canceled their traditional Cinco de Mayo celebrations due to concern over the spread of the H1N1 swine flu virus. New York's Flushing Meadows-Corona Park event was canceled because it was considered a public health concern.
