  • Early Years

    Kobasew began his career in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League in 1997. He moved up in the junior leagues the following year, joining the British Columbia Hockey League. Kobasew then played one season of college hockey at Boston College, leading the team to the NCAA Championship and being named MVP of the tournament. That same year, 2001, he was drafted 14th overall in the NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames. Kobasew played two seasons in the minor leagues, then made his NHL debut with the Flames in 2002.
  • Recent Career

    Kobasew played in the American Hockey League for the Lowell Lock Monsters during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout. He then returned to the Flames, scoring his first career hat trick the following season, in 2006. On February 10, 2007, Kobasew was traded from the Flames to the Boston Bruins.
