Chubby Checker is American Rock and roll musician created the dance craze, The Twist, with his song of the same title in the 60s. He still performs in 2010 in sold out venues across North America, much to the delight of his fans. http://www.chubbychecker.com/schedule.asp He has also done some acting.
Chubby Checker got his last name from Barbara Mallery, the now ex-wife of Dick Clark as a take off Fats Domino/ Fat Domino’s name. That name has become associated over the years with the 1960s and fun danceable music.
Fans of Chubby Checker can find news, links and even a video of him singing ‘Lets Twist Again’ his 1961 hit follow up song of Lets do the Twist which was released in 1960.

Quotes
- "The Twist really ruined my life. I was on my way to becoming a big nightclub performer, and The Twist just wiped it out. It got so out of proportion. No one ever believes I have talent."
- "Do you realize that I have had five albums in the Top 30. Elvis and The Beatles have never done that. I had five singles in the Top 5, I mean, no one's ever done that."
- "What turns me on is to walk into a sold-out venue. The audiences are so much the same as they were in the '60s. It's just an amazing thing. I can't explain it, but I hope it never stops."
