To Break the Seal - 2300 A.D.
- YouTube: Wings of Time i name it...EAGLE? O_o (Time: 10:46)
- From The End of Time, go to Proto Dome, 2300 A.D.
- You will reappear in the Proto Dome. Exit the dome to the overworld.
- Head west and enter Site 32.
- Race Johnny again to reach the other side of Site 32. Use the same strategy as before to achieve victory.
- NOTE: Once again, you can cross Site 32 on foot (and fight the mutants along the way).
- Head south and enter the Abandoned Sewers
- TIP: Enter Arris Dome before the Abandoned Sewers. There is a sealed door within the dome you can now open with the charged pendant. Refer to the Guide to Sealed Chests and Doors near the end of this walkthrough for more information.

Abandoned Sewers
- NOTE: Your party should be so powerful at this point in the game that the sewer enemies will be a breeze.
- Climb down the ladder. A Lookout will fly by, see you, and fly away. From the ladder head right. You will be attacked by two creatures called Egg Ooze and a sewer monster called a Dondrago. Defeat them and collect the 600 gold from the nearby treasure chest.
- Head back to the ladder you used to descend into the sewers. From there, run to the left. You will be attacked by two Dondragos. Deal with them and then head south.
- You will see a brief cutscene with two frogs. They will talk about how there used to be a bridge near where they are standing. Eventually the pair will run away. Walk to where they were standing. Climb down the ladder you see.
- From the bottom of the ladder, head left. You will see a note. Read the note. It is the final page of the diary.
- Now return to the ladder and head right. You will see a cat. Touch the cat and three Dondragos will appear. Make short work of them.
- Follow the path. Ignore the trash or any other objects that litter the walkway (this includes the Save Point at the end). If you touch them more monsters will attack (not that they will be much of a hassle). Climb up the ladder at the end of the walkway.
- You will see two Egg Ooze. Run past them or fight them at your discretion. Head north.
- As you run north you will see what looks like a gap in the wall to your right. Right before you reach this gap press right on the D-pad. There will be a secret passage here that your party must walk through.
- Once you get to the other side you will see a switch on the wall north of you. Press the switch. This opens a door to your right, although you cannot yet reach it.
- From the switch, turn around and backtrack to the main walkway on your left. Walk north and turn right at the end of the walkway. You will find another hidden path. You won't be able to see your party members, but you can still move them. Move to the right and then down. You will eventually walk through the door you just opened.
- As you walk through the door you will see another cut-scene between the two frogs, Boss and Underling. When you regain control, head toward the right and then north. Keep moving forward until you come to a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest to collect the Rage Band.
- From the treasure chest, head to the right. You will see the Lookout you encountered earlier conversing with a large worm-like creature named Krawlie. Walk over to Krawlie to engage it in combat.
-
Abandoned Sewers (cont'd.)
- From where you fought Krawlie, head south. Keep heading south and eventually your party will be attacked by two Dondrago and two Egg Ooze. Defeat them and continue heading south, across the small bridge.
- You will see a ladder to your left. Don't climb up the ladder yet. Instead, run past the bridge that leads to the ladder.
- Follow the path until you see the switch the frogs were struggling to hit earlier. Pull the switch. This creates a bridge back the way you came. This should be helpful if you ever need to come back through the sewer again. Open the nearby treasure chest to receive the Thunder Blade. This is a sword for Crono, but at this point it will be obsolete. Sell it at the next available opportunity.
- Backtrack to the ladder you just passed. Climb up the ladder.
-
Keeper's Dome
- You will now be on an island in the overworld screen. Head south and enter the Keeper's Dome.
- Upon entering the dome you will see a Nu sleeping. Walk over and talk to it. It asks you not to disturb it.
- Continue north, past the Nu. Eventually you will reach another sealed door. Open the door and enter the next area.
- Move to your right. A number of glimmering objects will appear on the ground. These are logs from Belthasar, the Guru of Reason. Each one tells some of his story. Continue to follow the path as it wraps around, reading each log as you go.
- Eventually you will reach another sealed door. Open the door and enter.
- Run forward and you will discover the Wings of Time. This is a time machine you can use to move through the ages. Say goodbye to those time portals (mostly) forever! Run to the back of the ship and watch the brief cutscene.
- Try to exit the way you came. The Nu will appear and explain how to use the Wings of Time. It will also suggest you name the time machine (the default name being the Epoch).
- When the Nu is finished, walk behind him and press A to board the machine. Elect to take off when asked.
- Go to The End of Time first to save your game. Talk to the old man near the lamp post. Afterward, hop back on the Epoch and travel to 12,000 B.C.
- NOTE: You can rename the Wings of Time whenever you wish by using the first computer you see as you enter Keeper's Dome.
-
-
Return to the Magic Kingdom - 12,000 B.C.
- You will arrive in the snowy overworld near the small cave with the sealed time portal. The Skyway to the east is sealed, so head west instead.
- Begin walking north once you reach the western coastline. You will eventually see what looks like a tent. This is the Terra Cave. Enter the cave.
- You are now inside the cave. Run forward to the top of the stairs. Walk through the doorway on your left.
-
Algetty Village
- As you can now see, Terra Cave holds Algetty, a village inhabited by the Earthbound Ones (those who cannot use magic).
- From where you entered the village you will see a doorway to your left. Enter the door. You will be in the home of an Earthbound One. Talk to the man on the left side of the room. He offers to sell you goods. Upgrade as necessary before leaving.
- You will now be where you first entered the village. Walk down the stairs to the next level. Continue down the series of stairs, from level to level, until you reach the floor of the cave.
- NOTE: Feel free to explore the rooms beyond the doorways you pass. Although there is nothing to obtain of note, it is worth talking to the villagers to get a stronger sense of the story.
- Save the game at the Save Point. Exit the screen via the doorway to the right.
- YouTube: Mountain of Woe! (Time: 10:59)
- You will emerge into a long stone hallway of sorts. First go south and pick up the glimmering object you find in the right corner. It is a Strength Capsule.
- Head north. You will encounter two monsters called Mudbeasts. The trick with these foes is that every time you attack them, their attack power increases. That being the case try to finish them off quickly with tech attacks so they have fewer chances to land blows on your party members.
- Head north and eventually you will encounter two more Mudbeasts. Use the same strategy as before to defeat them. Run up the stairs they were guarding.
Boss - Mud Imp, Blue/Red Mudbeast
- Once you get to the top of the stairs you will encounter the three foes that make up this boss battle - a Mud Imp, a Blue Mudbeast, and a Red Mudbeast.
- This Mud Imp is resistant to damage while the two Mudbeasts are still alive. Avoid attacking him and concentrate on the Mudbeasts instead. He won't be able to perform any of the attacks that involve both beasts with only one alive.
- NOTE: Any damage done to the Mud Imp while both Mudbeasts are still alive will result in an X-Strike style counterattack on a single party member. This deals around 120 HP in damage.
- TIP: As their colors suggest, the Blue Mudbeast is immune to water magic and the Red Mudbeast is immune to fire. They are also more vulnerable to magic of the rival color (for example, the Red Mudbeast takes more damage from water attacks).
- In addition to the X-Strike counterattack described above, here are some of the tricks the Mud Imp has up his sleeve:
- He will kick a rock and hit one of the Mudbeasts. This causes the beast to charge and hit a single party member. This deals about 120 HP in damage.
- He can heal the Mudbeasts and himself to the tune of 160 HP.
- He will jump on top of one of the Mudbeasts and ram you with it. This deals roughly 100 HP in damage.
- Both Mudbeasts jump and shake the ground. This deals roughly 75 HP in damage to each party member. Both Mudbeasts must be present for this attack.
- He can kick rocks at you as well. These come in two forms. One will simply damage you. The second will put the party member he attacks to sleep. Both deal roughly 40 HP in damage.
- Concentrate on one Mudbeast at a time. Use a mass party healing spell like Slurp Kiss to keep everyone's HP high. While this boss has no devastating attacks, it can slowly whittle down your health and kill your party members over time if you get careless.
- Once the Mudbeasts are dead, the Mud Imp's defenses will be lowered. Use your most powerful attacks against him. The goal is to destroy him before he has a chance to escape.
The Guru of Woe - 12,000 B.C.
- TIP: At this point it may be wise to retrace your steps back to Algetty Village and save your game.
- Head up the green chain behind where the Mud Imp stood.
- You will emerge into a foggy outdoor area. You will see a creature called a Rubble to your right. You can run by him if you wish. However, it is recommended that you attack and defeat the creature for doing so gives your characters 1000 experience points and 100 tech points.
- NOTE: There are several Rubble creatures throughout this area. As previously stated, it is advantageous to defeat each one you see. Each Rubble casts a spell called Omnilock on your party members at the beginning of the battle. This disables all of your characters' tech and item commands and forces you use normal attacks. Fear not, however, for the Rubbles do not seem to have any offensive abilities (although they surprisingly hard to hit for a large rock). Defeat them fast though for they can flee and leave your with nothing.
- Head north. You will be attacked by two Bomber Birds holding Stone Imps. Defeat them with normal attacks. Note that once the bird is down the Stone Imp it was holding will continue to fight.
- Keep heading north. Turn left and cross the chain to the next sky island.
- Fight the Rubble ahead of you. Afterward, head south as far as you can go.
- Turn left and walk underneath the land bridge. You will find a treasure chest on the other side. Inside is a Platinum Helm. Equip this to one of your party members.
- Backtrack to where you first entered the area (where you saw/fought the first Rubble).
- Head across the chain to your left. Once you get to the other side, head north. You will be attacked by two Bomber Birds.
- After defeating them, continue north. Climb the chain ahead to enter the next area.
- From where you are standing, head to the left. Defeat the Rubble you find there. Return to where you entered the area.
- Head to your right and then north. You will be attacked by two Gargoyles. Defeat them quickly because they have an attack that can reduce a single party member's HP to 1.
- Continue north. Save your game at the Save Point. Use a Shelter if necessary.
- Continue ahead. Try to cross the chain that comes up to your right. A Gargoyle and two Bird Bombers will attack. Use a tech to quickly destroy the Gargoyle before focusing on the other foes. Continue across the chain.
- This take you to an island that holds a Rubble and two chests. Fight the Rubble. Open the two chests to find a Shield Sphere and Platinum Vest. Backtrack across the chain to the main island.
- Head to the left. You will see a ramp that leads you to a higher elevation. Pass this for now and continue to the left. You will see a treasure chest. Try to approach it. When you do four Gargoyles will arrive. Use a mass attack like Lightning II to destroy all of them at once (hopefully preventing their attack that brings you to 1 HP). Open the chest to collect the Barrier Sphere.
- Head back to the right and go up the ramp to the higher level. You will see a treasure chest ahead of you that sits at a slightly higher elevation. Follow the path left and around the land mass where the chest sits. Eventually there will be a break in the rock where you can walk onto the mesa the chest sits.
- Head north. As you approach the treasure chest you will be attacked by two Bird Bombers (complete with Stone Imps). Make short work of these clowns and then open the chest to receive a Lapis.
- From the treasure chest go south to about the middle of the land mass on which you are standing. Now head right. Use the chain to cross to the next island.
- When you get to the next island you will be attacked by two Stone Imps and two Gargoyles. As before eliminate the Gargoyles first.
- Head to the right and then south as far as you can go. Head left. You will be attacked by two Gargoyles and two Bomber Birds. Use the same strategies as before to defeat them. Now head south, across the chain to the next island.
- You need to go right, but first head south and you will find another Rubble. Defeat it and then return to the chain. Head right. At this point you may be attacked by a group of four Gargoyles. Use Lightning II to defeat them.
- You will see a treasure chest. Open the chest to find a Barrier Sphere.
- Head up the nearby ramp. Cross the chain to your right to reach the next area.
- Head north and collect the Lapis from the treasure chest. Head to the right. You will see four flower monsters called Death Lily. They don't seem to be doing anything at the moment. From the island they are on you can either go north or east. Head east.
- Head north once you reach the next island. Collect the Barrier Sphere from the treasure chest. Now head south. You will see another treasure chest ahead, but before you can reach it you will be attacked by three Gargoyles. Use a massive magical attack to deal with them. Collect the hi-ether from the treasure chest. Now head back to the island that holds the four Death Lily.
- Try to head north. The four Death Lily will attack. These foes are more annoying than anything else. They will constantly cast confuse on you and heal themselves. Be patient and attack them normally. They do not have very many hit points and one attack should eliminate each Death Lily. Head north, across the chain, to the next island.
- Head north as far as you can go and then turn left. Defeat the Rubble that you encounter.
- From where you fought the Rubble, turn around and walk up the ramp to the higher elevated area. Begin heading south. You will encounter two Death Lily and three Gargoyles. Quickly cast Lightning II to get rid of the all the enemies. Keep heading south. Open the two treasure chests you find to obtain the Shield Sphere and Shelter.
- Head back north to where you took the ramp up to this elevated area. Now head right. Cross the chain to the next island.
- Simply follow the path. You will be attacked by three Gargoyles. Eliminate them with a Lightning II. Run forward and use a Shelter at the Save Point. Save your game.
- Climb up the chain ahead of you.
- You will come to another island. You will see a treasure chest above you. Follow the path around to reach the chest. Open it to receive the Time Hat. Equip it to a character. Cross the chain on the right to reach the next island.
- Head south. You will see a treasure chest on your left and a chain that leads north on your right. Walk to the treasure chest. Open it to collect a hi-ether. Now climb up the chain to the top.
- You will see a block of ice ahead of you. Walk up to the ice. Get ready to rumble!
Boss - Giga Gaia
- YouTube: Boss Battle! Giga Gaia! (Time: 10:58)
- Giga Gaia possesses three parts you must attack, his head and his two arms. You will want to focus on his arms first, specifically his right hand. This hand restores health to his head, which is the area you ultimately want to be attacking. Additionally, destroying his arms disallows him from using his more powerful double hand attacks.
- These double hand attacks affect all party members. They include:
- Dark Plasma (shadow based) - 86-115 HP in damage to all members.
- Double Hand Blaster (fire based) - 150-190 HP in damage to all members.
- Additionally he can do the following with just one arm:
- An arm attack with the left arm that halves a party member's HP.
- Giga Grenade (fire based) - deals about 90-110 HP to each party member.
- As previously mentioned, concentrate on his right hand first, and then his left. It is advantageous to use attacks that damage all his body parts, for even if he can heal his head he cannot heal his arms.
- TIP: Crono and Ayla's dual tech, Falcon Strike, can be used to target both arms at once. A few hits should eliminate both. Ayla is also advantageous to have in your party along with Frog due to the Slurp Kiss dual tech.
- TIP: The fight is made much easier using the colored plates that you receive from the sealed chests. See the section Guide to Sealed Chests and Doors at the end of the walkthrough for more information. The Dark Plate and Red Plate work best during this battle since the party member wearing them will absorb attacks affiliated with that color rather than take damage from them.
- Once his arms are down, use double techs and other powerful attacks on his head. It is only a matter of time before he revives his arms. Once he does so, eliminate the appendages and repeat. Eventually you will defeat him.
- Melchior will appear once Giga Gaia is no more. Shortly thereafter the Mountain of Woe falls.
What Lies Beyond - 12,000 B.C.
- Watch the following cutscene as Dalton kidnaps Schala. When you regain control talk to Melchior. He will give you the Ruby Knife. Exit the room.
- Head up the stairs and exit Algetty Village. Exit to the overworld.
- Head back east and enter the Skyway (which is now working). Use it to warp up into the heavens.
- You will appear near Enhasa. Use the Land Bridges and Skyways to make your way to the large sky island. Walk west and enter Kajar.
- Once in Kajar, talk to the Nu at the center of the city. He will ask you whether or not the pendant you have belongs to Schala. Be sure to say no. Buy Platinum Vests, Platinum Helms, and upgrade your weapons. Exit back to the overworld.
- Head through the series of caves and re-enter Zeal Palace.
- IMPORTANT: Before you head to the Queen's chamber, be sure to talk to the woman near the plant on the second level of the palace (you can see her on an elevated platform to your immediate left as soon as you enter the palace). She will asks whether to save or destroy the sapling. Tell her to save it. This will open up a sidequest later in the game. It is important you talk to her now for you will not get another chance.
- Head north and enter the doorway that leads to the Queen's throne room (where you previously fought the Golem).
- As you enter the hallway that leads to the throne room you will see a Save Point to your left. Save the game and then run forward. Enter the throne room.
- Run to the middle of the throne room. You will see Dalton complaining about the Prophet. He will soon notice you and attack.
Boss - Dalton
- Dalton is pretty much a joke. Every time you hit him he will counterattack with Iron Sphere that halves the attacking party member's HP.
- All you have to do is keep your party's health up and keep wailing on him. Eventually he will cast a shadow spell on you (dealing about 120-150 HP to each party member) and then disappear.
- Walk forward and enter the portal Dalton used to flee. This will transport you to Ocean Palace.
