Dimensional Vortex - 2300 A.D.

  1. Warp to 2300 A.D. The Dimensional Vortex is in the southeast portion of the map, next to the Geno Dome. Land and enter the vortex. Run into the teleporter.
  2. At some point, as you go through the random dungeons, you will be taken to a new indoor area. Run forward and you will see a child standing in your path. Talk to the child. He will ask you a trivia question about the game. Answer him correctly and he will let you pass.
  3. NOTE: The next few screens will follow this same pattern. A child will ask you a question about the game that you must answer correctly. If you fail to to so he will send you to the Hall of Punishment where you will be forced to fight and defeat a group of Nu before you can continue to the next child. The Nu are not especially difficult, but they can bring your HP down to 1 with a single attack. Even if you answer a question wrong you can still skip to the next question after you've exited the Hall of Punishment. Most of the questions are fairly easy if you've been paying attention while playing the game.
  4. After the random dungeons you will eventually reach a futuristic area called the Temporal Research Lab. Follow the path and exit to the north.
  5. You will see three conveyor belts. Take the one to the north.
  6. Read the note on the floor. It says there is a security code somewhere in the area. It also says the code is probably written backwards. Head down the conveyor belt on the right.
  7. You will encounter a creature called a Searcher. It's difficult to hit it with normal attacks (not to mention it boosts its defense even if you didn't hit it). Use powerful magic attacks to destroy it.
  8. TIP: Do not use shadow magic against the Searchers. They will gain HP from the spell instead of losing it.
  9. Head south along the conveyor belt. Check the right hand wall in this next room to find a secret passage. Run through the passage and exit. You will be taken to an outdoor area similar to Guardia Forest. Head south, through the trees to find a treasure chest with a Turbo Ether inside. Now head right.
  10. Once you reach the large clearing, begin heading south. Go south as far as you can go and then turn right. Walk to the right as far as you can go and you will see a treasure chest behind some trees. Check for a secret passage. It will take you to the chest. Inside is the Apocalypse Arm upgrade for Robo.
  11. NOTE: Although the Apocalypse Arm is the only unique item in this area, there are several other chests on both the main path and hidden behind trees. Search for them and collect the items if you wish. There is always a secret passage through the trees to reach each item (and you will always be able to see the chest from the main path).
  12. Return to the Temporal Research Lab. Once you are back, head to the left.
  13. Head north again to the room with the note at its center. This time take the conveyor belt to the left.
  14. Defeat the Searcher that appears. Now head south. In this next room you can either go left or right (along conveyor belts). Head left.
  15. Read the note at the room's center. It says the security code is LLAB. Remember it is written backwards, so this translates to BALL. Head north along the conveyor belt.
  16. In the next room you can head either north or east. Head north again. In the next room head east.
  17. Now head north. Defeat the Searcher that appears. You can now go either left or right. Go to the left.
  18. Enter the gray door to the northwest.
  19. You will see a door to your north and a pair of lasers blocking the hall to your left. Enter the door.
  20. In the next room you will see a hallway that veers to your left and a door to your north. You cannot open the door so turn left and run down the hall.
  21. In the next room you will see robots patrolling. The object here is to not get seen by the robots. You must run by them when their backs are turned. If you get caught by one you will be knocked into a lower room and attacked by two Prototypes. These guys have a lot of hit points so use powerful magic against them. Note that any sort of electrical attack will stun them. Afterward head south to exit the room. You will emerge from the door you could not open. Head left and try to sneak by the robots again.
  22. NOTE: You only need to worry about the leader of your party. It doesn't matter if your other party members are in clear view.
  23. Basically you want to make it to a hallway to your upper left. Keep avoiding the robots' glaze by running to the gray area in between the locations they are patrolling when their backs are turned. You will have to evade four robots in this manner. When you make it to the hallway, exit to the left.
  24. Head through the door you find in this next room. Run down the hall and you will eventually find a computer console. Use the console. Say "yes" when it asks to release the security locks. It will then ask you for the security code. Enter BALL by press the B, A, L, L buttons in that order.
  25. Retrace your steps back to the room being patrolled by robots. The security code did not deactivate them, so you will have to make your way back to the right while avoiding them.
  26. Return to the room with the hallway that was guarded by lasers. When you enter the room an alarm will go off. The doors will lock and your party members will be stuck. It is now up to the remaining characters to free them. One of your trapped characters will tell the others that there is a room to the east with a mechanism to release the lock.
  27. Choose your party among the four remaining characters (providing you have Magus, otherwise you're stuck with the three that weren't trapped). Now head south, along the conveyor belt.
  28. Head along the conveyor belt to your right. Now head along the one to the north once you get to the next room.
  29. You will encounter another Searcher. Defeat it and then head to the right. You will reach another room with conveyor belts to the east and south. Head along the one to the east.
  30. Enter the doorway you see in this next room.
  31. Head north. You will see something glowing on the floor. Step onto this point. It will warp you to another part of the room.
  32. Follow the path and you will come to a small intersection of three alcoves. Each alcove holds a warp point. There are two paths here. One will lead you to the objective. The second will lead you to an armor upgrade. We're going for the armor first.
  33. Take the warp point on the right. You will appear in a hallway. A robot will teleport in front of each of the warp points. Stay on the north side of the hall so you don't touch the robots and then run forward. Ignore the first warp point and take the second (wait for the robot to disappear first).
  34. You are now in a small room with two warp points. There is one to your left and one below you. Take the one to the south.
  35. You will be in another hallway. There is a door ahead and a warp to both the right and left. Remember this door. Take the warp on the right.
  36. Run down the hallway and open the treasure chest you find to collect the Regal Plate. Run forward and enter the next warp.
  37. Enter the next warp and you will be taken back to the beginning of the area.
  38. Take the first warp to the room with the intersection with three warps. Take the warps in the same order you took to get to the Regal Plate. Stop, however, once you get to the hall that contained the metal door. Enter the door.
  39. A computer will activate when you enter the room. It will wish to eliminate the intruders... this means you! It will begin sending out groups of enemies after you. They are as follows:
    1. Level 1: A single Searcher. Destroy it in the same manner you used to defeated its kin.
    2. Level 2: A single Prototype. Use electric attacks if you can to help take it down.
    3. Level 3: Two Searchers. Again not a big deal, just use powerful magic (excluding shadow magic) and concentrate on one at time with your attacks.
    4. Level 4: Two Prototypes. Cast a lightning spell if possible and concentrate on one at a time.
    5. Maximum Alert: A robot called Iron Maiden will appear. This battle takes place in two parts. In the first it will mostly shoot missiles at you (about 100 HP in damage to a single character). It will also counter attacks by sapping the attacking character's MP (about 10 MP at a time). Do not be lulled into a false sense of complacency. In the second part, the Iron Maiden can perform a Robo Tackle-like attack that hits all your characters, halving their HP. Do not use magic against it during this second half of the battle for it can gain life from it. Instead concentrate on it with physical attacks. It is resistant to a lot of attacks so it might take awhile to defeat it. Once its sustained enough damage the Iron Maiden will self-destruct. This deals minimal damage to all party members.
  40. Run forward and use the computer. The security lockdown will now be disengaged.
  41. You will now regain control of the three trapped characters. The lasers that block the hallway to the left will also disappear. Run down this hall.
  42. You will see robots patrolling once again. As before wait until their backs are turned and run from one hiding place to the next. You will have to evade five robots in this fashion. Enter the door at the end of the room.
  43. Run down the hall. Eventually electricity will begin shooting from the walls. Wait for each stream to dissipate and then run past.
  44. When you pass the second stream an Iron Maiden and Searcher will attack. Quickly use spells like Luminaire and Flare to defeat them. Head north.
  45. Evade the electricity as you head through the hallway. At the end of the hall you will encounter two Iron Maidens. Again, use Luminaire and other powerful spells against them. Cast Haste if you have Marle in your party. This way your party members can quickly attack before the Iron Maidens can enact their more powerful attacks.
  46. Head through the door to the north after defeating them. Enter the wind portal.
  47. You will again be in the Twilight Grotto. Follow the path. Save your game at the Save Point you come across.
  48. Continue to follow the path. Eventually Lucca will step forward and you will be obligated to include her in your party. Choose your party wisely. Preferably you want Chrono and a healing character like Marle or Robo as your second and third members. Afterward get ready to fight the Crimson Shade!
  49. The Crimson Shade is a replica of Lucca. Like the previous shades, it will attack with all of her abilities. Additionally a second enemy, called the Eggsterminator, will be present. This flying sphere possesses its own unique attacks. Here are some tips on how to defeat them both:
    1. As previously stated, the Crimson Shade will use all of Lucca's attacks. An attack with the blaster deals about 100 HP in damage to a single target. Fire II (called Shadow Fire here) deals about 100-130 HP in damage to all party members (provided you have equipped them with the best armor/helms available).
    2. The thing to watch out for is when the Crimson Shade casts Flare, which can deal more than 300 HP in damage to each party member. Be sure to keep your party's health high to anticipate this and follow such an attack with mass healing.
    3. As for the Eggsterminator, it can cast a poison mist which does roughly 60-160 HP in damage to each party member. It will constantly cast Osmosis and steal about 10 MP from whichever party member it targets. It can also nullify status protection and heal both the Crimson Shade and itself to the tune of 1000 HP.
    4. NOTE: The Crimson Shade is immune to fire while the Eggsterminator is immune to Lightning based atacks.
    5. As tempting it is to go after the Eggsterminator (especially due to its healing capabilities), you will want to first eliminate the Crimson Shade. This is because it wields the deadlier attacks (most notably Flare). Use Luminaire, Dark Matter, and other powerful physical/magical techs against it. You need to whittle down its health so far that not even the Eggsterminator can save it.
    6. Focus on the Eggsterminator after you've eliminated the Crimeson Shade. Without the Shade to back it up the Eggsterminator will go down rather easily. Use Lucca's own Flare against it.

Time's Eclipse

  1. NOTE: You can only access the boss after you beat all three Dimensional Vortexes.

  2. Go back to The End of Time and talk to Gaspar. He tells you of another mysterious force that is accessible through the bucket behind him (the same bucket that leads to The Day of Lavos). When you feel you are ready, enter the bucket. You want to choose the Time's Eclipse option.

  3. Run forward toward Magus (dressed as the Prophet). He explains that you've arrived in the world where Lavos has been defeated. He says, however, that a new foe has arisen in Lavos's stead. Afterward Magus leaves via a portal. Enter the portal he used. Select "fight" when prompted (assuming that's what you want to do).

  4. TIP: Before entering the portal you will want to select your party to fight the Dream Devourer. I would recommend using Crono and Marle for his strong offense and her healing abilities. The third party member is entirely up to you. Magus is a strong option given his magic as is Ayla for her physical prowess.

  5. TIP: Make sure each of your characters are wearing armor/helms/accessories that provide a high degree of defense against magic. Additionally, you will want to load up on Megaelixirs, Elixirs, and Turbo Ethers. It is also advisable to equip Gold Stud to the character you feel will be using the most magic.

Boss - Dream Devourer

  1. The Dream Devourer appears to be a clone of Lavos that is accompanied by Schala. You will watch a cut scene between the Devourer and Magus. Eventually Lavos will shoot Magus away. Now it is your turn to fight.
  2. TIP: If you have Marle in your party, then don't bother using her to attack. Only use her to support the other two characters. Use Cure II to keep your party members at high health. Cast Haste on Crono and the other character as it will allow them to levy more attacks on the Devourer.
  3. As with many boss fights, this one takes place in two parts. Unlike many, however, the two parts are not distinctly marked.
  4. In the first portion the Devourer will use a few magical attacks against you. These include:
    1. Devours Dreams from a Distant Dimension - a magic spell that deals about 150-230 HP in damage to all characters. It will hit your party with this almost immediately.
    2. Gravity Sphere - about 30-100 HP in damage to each character.
    3. Dreambind - this casts Stop on a single character and deals about 40 HP in damage.
    4. Incinerate - a magical attack that deals around 150-250 HP in damage to each character.
  5. During the first phase of the fight you will want to use only magical attacks like Luminaire, Flare, and Dark Matter against the Devourer. Any physical attacks against it will be met with a Mana Reaver attack which rather annoyingly drains all of the target's MP.
  6. This first phase of the boss is not overly difficult. Just keep your health high with Potions/healing techs and keep attacking with magic.
  7. At some point the Devourer will switch modes and the second phase of the battle begins. This is perhaps best marked when you see the Devourer cast a spell on itself (it looks like a barrier being cast).
  8. During this second part of the fight, the Devourer will begin employing some new attacks:
    1. Heavenly Peal - a lightning attack that deals about 660 HP in damage to a single member.
    2. Supernova - 80-100 HP in damage to each party member.
    3. Life Reaver - the Devourer sucks about 500 HP from a single party member.
    4. Phantasm - a magical attack that deals about 350-550 HP in damage to each party member.
    5. Starfall - a fireball attack similar to the one Dalton used. It deals roughly 300 HP to a single party member.
  9. During this second phase you will want to use only physical attacks against the Devourer. Any magical attack will cause it to gain HP. Crono's Frenzy is a good option along with any of Ayla and Robo's single/double techs. If you have Magus in your party then simply use normal attacks since there is always a chance he will hit the Devourer with a critical hit and deal a ton of damage (provided you have the Dreamreaper sickle equipped to him).
  10. Note that the Devourer will constantly counter with Chaos Zone. Your party should be immune to the Chaos given their advanced helms, but the spell also deals around 100-175 HP in damage to each party member. This being the case, make sure Marle or whatever character you chose as the healer keeps everyone's health high. The Chaos Zone can really whittle your party down, meaning that a single one of the Devourer's other attacks can cripple you if you are not careful.
  11. At some point the screen will indicate that the Devourer has lowered its defense and has begun building up power. This is a great time to attack. You will deal it considerably more damage. Again, use Crono's Frenzy and other effective physical techs. The attack that the Devourer is storing power for, The End of All and Nothing, will come soon. This attack causes fire to rain from the heavens. It looks similar to the attack that Lavos used against you in both Ocean Palace and at the end of the regular game. This attack can deal around 250-500 HP in damage to each party member.
  12. Keep employing the tactics above. Above all play defensively. The Devourer doesn't seem to have the ability to heal which gives you an advantage over it. As long as you are responsible about keeping your party at high health, it doesn't matter that you are only dealing him damage with Crono's Frenzy (this is merely an example).
  13. The Devourer will automatically knock your party down once you defeat it. Sit back and watch the cut scene between Magus and Schala. If this is your first time through you will receive the Dreamseeker, a weapon for Chrono with a 90% critical hit rate! You've earned it! Congratulations on beating the secret final boss to Chrono Trigger DS!
