Beyond the Ruins - The Future
- You will appear in a square-shaped futuristic room. Run south.
- You will be in a futuristic overworld. Head south and enter Trann Dome.
- Head to the left. Talk to the first man you see. He is a merchant.
- Keep heading left. Use the Enertron (the bubble shaped device) to restore your HP/MP. Exit back to the overworld.
- Head north and enter Site 16.
-
-
Site 16
- NOTE: Avoid the rats running around Site 16. They will steal Potions.
- Once inside Site 16, head north. You will encounter 3 enemies called Craters and a flower creature called Floral Horror. Take them out and head east.
- You will come across a treasure chest. Fight the group of enemies that attack. After you defeat them, collect the Silver Sword from the chest. Equip it to Crono if you haven't already bought one. From here, head north.
- Take the Silver Bow from the treasure chest near the second rat you see. Equip it to Marle.
- Keep following the path, you will fight another group of enemies. Keep following the path north.
- After fighting the group of five Craters, head east. Avoid the rat, and run to the next screen.
- Go forward and you will encounter three purple slime creatures called Shadows. They are difficult to hit with conventional attacks, so use special attacks like Cyclone and Flame Whirl to take them down.
- Head south, then east (past the Mutant resting on the rocks). Once you go as far as you can to the right, head north. Defeat the Mutant that attacks from the left. Head north to the next screen.
- You will be in the overworld again. Head east and enter Arris Dome.
-
Arris Dome
- YouTube: Arris Dome! Boss Battle! Guardian! (Time: 10:43)
- Navigate your way through the dome until you reach the inhabitants. An Old Man (his name is Doan) will begin talking to you. Once he is done, use the Enertron nearby. Save the game at the Save Point. Talk to the little girl to the left of the Save Point. She will sell you items. Head to the ladder south of where Doan stands. After speaking with him again, climb down the ladder.
- You will descend into a control room. Head north and up the ladder on the left.
- Navigate your way along the walkways, making your way north to the next screen (there are no enemies here).
- An alarm will activate. Try to head north. Your party will be attacked by a boss
-
Boss - Guardian
- This robotic boss actually comes in three parts - the main unit and the two Pods. Focus on eliminating the Pods first using normal attacks and Crono's Wind Slashes.
- Do Not attack the Guardian unit without dispatching the Pods first. Doing so will cause the Guardian to counterattack. Its counters include Amplifier (around 55 HP to a single party member) and a triple counter called Delta Attack (55 HP to all party members).
- The Pods themselves have a number of attacks. They will shoot lasers at individual party members (25 HP), and missiles (again 25 HP). The Guardian can also use the amplifier attack.
- Once the pods are down, the Guardian will begin counting down from 5. When it reaches 0 it will revive the Pods. During this time period, deal as much damage as you can to the Guardian unit. Once it is destroyed, the fight is over.
- TIP: Use Marle primarily for healing. Her Aura tech is for individual members and the double tech Aura Whirl (Crono and Marle) will heal all three fighters.

Arris Dome (cont'd)
- After defeating the boss, head north to the next room.
- You will be in the refrigeration room full of rotten food. Search the dead body. It holds a note that says to catch the rat statue (the one you saw on the walkway to the Guardian boss). Take the Mid-Ether from the nearby chest. Leave the room.
- Make your way back to the series of walkways that preceded the Guardian. As soon as you enter, you will see the rat creature on the walkway perpendicular to where you are standing.
- Chase the rat. The goal is to get close enough to its tail and then press A to catch it. It will lead you along a series of walkways. You have until it reach the bottom of the screen to catch it. If you fail, then just leave the screen. When you return the rat will have reappeared.
- Once you catch the rat, it will tell you the password to the control room (the first room you entered when you climbed down the ladder from where the inhabitants are gathered). It says to hold down the L and R buttons and press A to activate the switch.
- Return to the control room. Walk to the panel that shines. Input the password. This will open a walkway to a door on your right. Enter the door.
- You will enter a room with two catwalks on either side. Ignore (or fight if you so choose) the monsters at the center of the room (don't touch the rats) and take the walkway to the left.
- Run down the walkway until you reach the next set of stairs. Descend to the lower area. Head south, defeat the two pairs of bugs that get in your way. Take the next set of stairs you see off to your right. Head north, along the catwalk, down another set of stairs, and through the door ahead.
- Defeat the first robot you see. Walk up the stairs behind him. Follow the catwalk as it goes around, and then back downstairs. Head north and defeat the next roving robot you see. Walk up the staircase to the left of where he was patrolling. Run along the catwalk until you see a set of stairs. Walk down the stairs and enter the door to the north.
- YouTube: Lavos is known for the first time! (Time: 10:57)
- Lucca uses the super computer to locate the time portal back to 1,000 A.D. It computer says the party needs to go to the Proto Dome. You will see a video of The Day of Lavos. Afterward respond with "Okay, let's do it!" when Lucca asks you what to do. Exit the room.
- Retrace your steps back to Doan and the inhabitants of the dome. Doan will give you the Jetbike Key. He says you need to go to Site 32. Save the game. Exit the dome.
- Once in the overworld, head north and enter Site 32.
-
Site 32 - Race
- YouTube: Site32! Proto Dome (Time: 10:47)
- Collect the Mid-Potion from the treasure chest to your right. Head north. You will see the Jetbike. Walk to the Jetbike and press A. An alarm will sound and a robot named Johnny will appear. He challenges you to race him to get through Site 32. Walk to the bike and press A for the race to begin.
- You will be given a side view of the race. The Jetbike will move automatically. All you need to worry about is steering and using the three boosts with the B button.
- Johnny will try to block you as much as possible. The best strategy is to get ahead so he keeps ramming into the back of your Jetbike.
- Don't use the boosts until the very last leg of the race. Once you near the finish line (as indicated by your position on the bottom of the screen), begin using the boosts. You should cross the finish line without a problem.
- Once off the bike, exit to the south.
- Enter the Proto Dome to the east of Site 32.
- NOTE: If you lose the race, you have the option of racing Johnny again, or simply wading through the wasteland (just walk past the Jetbike to the next screen). If you choose to do this, then you will encounter several mutants along the way. This will give you extra experience and a race recorder (via a treasure chest along the way)
-
Proto Dome
- Once inside the dome, head left. Defeat the three robots that attack.
- Head north and you will encounter a line of 4 robots. Defeat them and use the Enertron behind them.
- Walk down the stairs to your right. Head north and down the next set of stairs.
- You will see a robot laying between two control panels. Walk up to the robot and press A. Lucca will begin working on the robot.
- Robo springs to life and joins your party. Robo says that power must be restored to open the door and access the time gate beyond. Your party will have to head to the factory to the north. One member, however, either Marle or Lucca, must stay behind.
- TIP: At this point the game will give the player the option of choosing Lucca or Marle to accompany Crono and Robo to the factory. It is recommended you take Marle because of her healing abilities.
- Exit Proto Dome.
- Head north and enter the Derelict Factory.
-
Derelict Factory
- YouTube: Derelict factory! (Time: 10:56)
- Walk forward and activate the computer. This causes a monster to attack. Defeat it and head north.
- You will be given the option of going down one of two elevators. The one on the left leads to the Laboratory, the one of the right to the Factory. Head to the Factory.
- You will arrive in a room full of conveyor belts. Head south, down the stair case in front of you. You will see two staircases nearby. Head down the one to the left.
- Follow the hall until you reach the end. Open the treasure chest you find to discover the Bandit's Bow. Equip it to Marle if you have her in your party.
- Head back the way you came until you are once again situated on a platform between the two staircases. Now take the one to your right.
- Follow the L-shaped hallway until you see a door. It appears to lead to a room on the conveyor belt. Enter it.
- A crane will come and drop you onto another conveyor belt. Your party will enter a room and face a robot named Version 3.0. Your party will automatically move to the left once you defeat it.
- NOTE: What follows is a series of battles as your party moves along the conveyor belt. None of these robotic foes are particularly difficult. There will be four rooms, including the one mentioned above. Use Flame Whirl and other mass damage techs to hurt several enemies at a time. When it comes to single attacks, remember to concentrate your aggression on one foe at a time.
- Your party will eventually get off the conveyor belt. Head south.
- Defeat the four insect enemies. Head north, up the stairs to the right. Walk through the door at the top of the stairs.
- Run along the catwalk to the other side of the room. You will see two doors. Walk through the one on your right.
- Walk to the computer terminal at the center of the room. Use the terminal to discover the crane codes. The codes reflect the buttons on the DS. Two robot enemies will begin patrolling the room. You can either fight them or evade them. Exit the room.
- 'Remember the crane code is = Pattern 00: X, A; Pattern 01: B,B
- You are now back outside in the catwalk area. Enter the door on your left.
- There will be two robot guards patrolling the area. Either fight or evade them. Make your way to the left side of the room and head south (the direction the arrow indicates).
- You are now at the crane controls. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the crane codes your discovered earlier by pressing the corresponding buttons. You will need to do this twice by inputting Pattern 00 and then Pattern 01. Each code removes one of the barrels that were previously blocking your path forward.
- Exit the crane controls. Walk back through the previous room and outside to the upper catwalk area.
- Walk down the stairs to the left of the door you exit. Head to your left. Eventually you will see a door to the north. Enter it.
- You will now be a small room with a computer. Search the nearby treasure chest to find the Thunder Blade. Equip it to Crono.
- Use the computer. It tells you the security door code is XABY. Exit the room.
- Head south and then all the way to your right. Ascend up the stairs at the end of the hall. Head to the right until you see the elevator you used to enter the factory area. Climb up the stairs and use the elevator to go back up.
- You will now be back at the entrance of the level. Take the elevator to the laboratory. Along the way you will encounter three robot guards. Evade or fight them.
- Head south and save your game using the save point. Head north through the doorway on the left side of the room.
- You will enter another room with a computer. An Acid and two Alkali enemies will follow you around the room. Fight them. Use the computer. This opens a hatch on the right side of the room. Climb down the ladder.
- Head to the left. You will encounter two Alkali enemies along the way. Defeat them and then head south through the door at the end of the hall.
- Head south and through the next door. Turn right. Walk down the hall. You will see a red laser blocking your path. Head north through the door near the laser.
- Walk to the right side of the room. Open the treasure chest to find the Hammer Arm. Equip it to Robo.
- Use the computer on the north side of the room. Robo will deactivate all the lasers in the area. Doing this, however, alerts five Acid enemies. Single techs like Crono's Wind Slash seem to work well against them (mass attacks like Fire Spin less so).
- Before leaving this room, head to the left of the computer. You will see another treasure chest on the left side of the room. Open it to find a Titanium Vest. Equip it to any party member but Robo (he already has one).
- Exit the room back the way you came.
- The laser blocking the hallway should now be gone. Head to the right and use the elevator you see. It gives you the option of going up or down. Go down.
- TIP: You may, however, want to take the elevator up one floor and save your game at the save station you used earlier. If you elect to do so, then use a shelter as well.
- Get off the elevator and head left. Walk north through this large hallway. You will eventually come to a sealed door with a computer to its left. Search the treasure chest to acquire the Plasma Gun. Equip it to Lucca.
- Use the computer. Enter the security code you learned earlier by pressing the X,A,B,Y buttons in that order. Enter the door that opens on your right.
- Walk north until you see a large column at the center of the room. Press the button on the column. This activates an alarm. Robo says that the security system has gone haywire and you must escape. Exit the room the way you came.
- The goal is to escape the factory. Basically all you need to do is backtrack the way you came. Head south, down the hallway. You will encounter some security doors along the way that you will automatically run through. The elevator you used earlier is disabled, so once you get to the end of he hall, head left and up the staircase.
- You will emerge into the room where you fought the group of Acids. Exit through the door to the south.
- Follow the hallway to the left. Head north through the first door you see. Keep going north until you reach a larger area. Head to the right and you will encounter six carbon copies of Robo. They will single Robo out and attack him. There is nothing you can do at this point. Just sit back and watch the robotic carnage.
- Eventually the robots will get rid of Robo, leaving just Crono and Marle/Lucca. They now turn their attention to the remaining party members and attack.
-
Boss - R Series
- YouTube: Boss Battle: R-Series (Time: 9:10)
- The six R-Series robots possess many of Robo's attacks. They can run up and punch either party member (deals about 25 HP), shoot out their fists (about 15 HP), and fire lasers (25 HP). They can also volley a single party member between them like a beach ball (20 HP).
- None of these six bots are that tough individually. They can, however, really wear you down due to their sheer numbers. This danger is doubled by the fact that you are forced to fight with only two party members.
- The strategy is similar regardless of whether Marle or Lucca is your second party member. Let Crono do most of the fighting. The Wind Slash attack can bring down each robot in about two hits. Meanwhile use the second party member to heal. In this regard, Marle is a bit more advantageous to have over Lucca due to her Aura ability (and the double tech, Aura Whirl). Items, however, work almost as good and Crono and Lucca's double tech, Flame Whirl is quite effective against the bots.
- TIP: As with fighting many groups of enemies, remember to concentrate on just one or two at a time.
