  • Story

The game starts out with the protagonist of the story, Chrono running off to a town festival. When an experiment goes awry and sends Marle, Chrono's friend, into the past, Chrono sets out to save her. Although the quest first starts out to avoid changing history, you are quickly thrust into a crusade to defeat a Lovecraftian super-alien god of destruction who will eventually destroy the world. You are given the task to make sure he never wakes up to start the Apocalypse, and the only way you can do this is to travel into the future and the past to change the entire flow of Time itself.
  • Gameplay

The decisions you make during the game affect the outcome of the game and there are several alternate endings that depend on the choices you make. The battle system is Active Time Bar(ATB) similar in style to Final Fantasy IV, however the difference is that the system plays more like a real-time battle than it's Final Fantasy predecessor as you can incur double or triple attacks. There are also no random battles to speak of and also no loading time for the battles (only for the SNES version, the PS version has a glitch when it comes to battle screens). There are also a couple mini-games and even with these, the game clocks in at about 20 hours.
