Christopher Lee McCuin, a 26-year-old from Tyler, Texas, was arrested on January 5, 2008 after calling police and telling them he had killed his girlfriend, Jana Shearer, and was cooking parts of her body. Authorities said it was unclear whether McCuin had consumed any of Shearer's body. Police believe that McCuin kidnapped and killed Shearer and then drove to his ex-wife's house. There he also stabbed his ex-wife's boyfriend, William Veasley. McCuin was being held in the Smith County Jail, awaiting trial on charges of kidnapping, murder and burglary. He was pronounced dead on December 7, 2008, after being found unresponsive in his jail cell.
