  • Christopher Cox became the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2005. Before being nominated to the chairman position by George W. Bush, he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing a district in southern California.

    Cox was criticized in 2008 for not dealing effectively with the economic crisis.
