Preliminary results from the autopsy released on April 21, 2009, revealed that the family was shot to death while they slept on the night of April 16, 2009. Traumatic cuts on the bodies were made after the family was dead. Autopsy Results and Motive
On April 19, 2009, police told media sources that they had discovered that Wood had some financial issues and his notes mentioned "psychological issues" as well. The last note said that he had been struggling with depression and anxiety but things had gotten worse. Murders in a Small Town
Authorities were called to the Wood home shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009, after Francie Billotti Wood's father discovered the bodies. Wood had been a salesman for CSX Railroad, who had moved back to town from Florida about four months ago.The bodies of two boys, ages four and five, were found in their beds, while the third child, a two-year-old girl, was found in the master bedroom with the body of her mother, Francis Billotti Wood.
