Thousands of Christmas trees are recycled every year after the holiday season. Some cities provide a curb-side pick up service after the holiday season, and some people use a wood-chipper to turn their tree into mulch. To learn more about Christmas tree recycling, check out the links on this page.
The Vatican Recycles
In 2008, the Vatican recycled their Christmas tree. The tree in St. Peter's Square was chopped down this year, and the wood was used to make school benches and toys for under-privileged children. The tree is an Austrian red spruce and is the tallest tree the square has seen since the tradition of setting up a tree was established in 1982 by Pope John Paul II.Times Online: "Green" Vatican to recycle Christmas tree
