Christmas sermons are typically given during religious services on Christmas Day, though some sermons can also be heard at Midnight Mass. Christmas prayers are often incorporated, as the congregation celebrates the birth of the Christ child. Themes of hope and optimism abound, as the celebration of Jesus' birth is observed by Christians around the world.

Qualities of a Good Sermon
In an article entitled "What Makes a Sermon a Good Sermon?" the Reverend Duane Kelderman says the three key factors are "communicational excellence," "biblical faithfulness" and "transformational power." Kelderman says the congregation must be able to clearly understand the message the preacher is attempting to convey - so communication is key. He adds that the sermon must be faithful to the Bible, remembering that "preaching is first and foremost a proclamation of Scripture." He adds also that a good sermon inspires one to make a transformation of some kind - it motivates them to want to change, to become a better person.http://www.calvin.edu/library/database/crcpi/fulltext/csf/spring2002.pdf#page=9
Christmas Sermons Quote
"It is hard to put a definitive phrase upon one miracle over another but it seems likely that no other miracle has had a more profound impact upon our world than that one occurring at the birth of Jesus Christ nearly 2000 years ago...Too often we think of that event as being singular but in reality there were a whole number of miracles which occurred that night. It will be those miracles of that Night Of Miracles that we will exam in this short message this morning."—Excerpt from "The Night of Miracles at Bethlehem" sermonSermons.org: "The Night of Miracles at Bethlehem" Sermon
Christmas Sermon: What Think Ye of Christ?
This video is part one of a four-part audio series featuring a Christmas sermon delivered by a Pastor Joshua Wallnofer in 2008. Entitled "What think ye of Christ," the sermon asks the congregation whether they have actually stopped to consider why we truly celebrate Christmas? Pastor Wallnofer challenges everyone to take some time in-between the holiday rush to stop and think about the "Christ" in Christmas. Wallnofer quotes several scripture passages from Matthew to help make his point.
