Decorating with Ribbons
Ribbons can be used to decorate anything they can be tied around, such as candle sticks and staircase banisters. The trick is to get the bow perfectly symmetrical and decoratively cut the ribbon ends or curl them with sharp scissors.
Ribbons can also add a homemade touch to a Christmas tree. To add a ribbon element to ornaments try tying bows the tops of ornaments, hanging them with ribbon or making ribbon ornaments. Ribbon can also be hung off the tree branches or tied on to the branches in bows.
Christmas ribbon can also be used to make a gorgeous Christmas tree topper. The process isn't difficult. Use glittery Christmas ribbon for a dramatic effect.
Large ribbons can be used to make Christmas wreaths or decorative Christmas centerpieces.
How to Make Ribbon Garland
In this video, a decorator explains how to use ribbon to decorate your Christmas tree. Erinn Valencich from [[|HGTV]] shows you step by step how to create an actual ribbon garland for the tree. You'll need scissors, heavy wired ribbon and a thinner ribbon. Take the heavy wired ribbon and cut into eight inch pieces (cut on the diagonal). Take a soft ribbon and wrap the heavy ribbon around the softer ribbon, piece by piece, repeating until the entire ribbon is covered. Valencich says this project is particularly easy for children.
