Equipment needed: 3 9 inch round pan, bowl, whisk, wooden spoon, cooling rack, cake plate and spatula. Optional: 15 ounce can of beets, pecan halves and electric mixer. Preheat oven to 350 degree. Grease and flour cake pans. Pour cocoa powder into small bowl add red food coloring and whisk together until smooth. Tip: Beet juice can be substituted for red food coloring. In a large bowl beat 1 stick of butter and sugar by hand or with electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
