The Nativity Plays
Did you know that during the middle ages people had all but lost interest in celebrating the Christmas holiday? The people in the audience could get involved and sing along, as singers acted out the story in each song. Why Christmas?: The History of Christmas Carols
Adapting a Story Into a Play
If you have a favorite Christmas story that hasn't yet been adapted for the stage, you can write the adaptation yourself. Here are a couple of tips to help you through your adaptations:
- Read, read, read the story until you know all of the details inside and out.
- Think of how you can commit the story to the stage without the space gaps that fill many novels and stories.
- Stay faithful to the overall "story" rather than the plot for plot details.Scene4 InView: Adapting A Novel into a Play
