Christian Shephard is a fictional character on ABC’s Lost. He is played by John Terry. Christian is Jack Shephard and Claire Littleton’s dead father.

Before the crash:

Christian was the chief of surgery at St. Sebastian Hospital. He was recovering from an addiction to alcohol. While Christian lived with his wife, Margo, and his son, Jack, he had a secret affair with Carole Littleton, who later gave birth to his daughter, Claire. Carole didn’t think it was right for him to juggle two families, which led to Christian being told he could not visit Claire anymore.

Christian's son Jack became a doctor at the same hospital as Christian, and Jack married a woman named Sarah. Christian got back in contact with a now teenage Claire. But after Christian told her about his other family, Claire walked out on him. After a falling out with Jack, Christian began drinking again. When Christian operated on a woman while drunk, Jack exposed him and ended his career as a doctor.

Christian then flew to Australia, in an effort to see Claire. Unsuccessful, he ended up at a bar. While at the bar Christian met James Sawyer Ford and admitted his mistake and told Sawyer that he wanted to call Jack to apologize. Due to overdrinking, Christian had a heat attack and died in the alley. Jack got his father’s body and had it placed in a coffin and put on the plane back to Los Angeles.

On the Island:

After the crash, Vincent the Dog discovered Christian very much alive. Christian told Vincent to go and wake up Jack, stating that he had work to do. When Jack started seeing his father he assumed he was hallucinating from fatigue. Jack decided to follow his father through the jungle, but he became very disturbed when this led him to an empty coffin. Months later, Claire awakened in the night and saw Christian rocking her baby son, Aaron. Claire identified Christian as her father and followed him into the jungle. The next morning Claire and Christian were nowhere to be seen. Christian later appeared to Locke, telling him that he acts an a mediator for Jacob.http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Christian_Shephard
