Christian Louboutin became fascinated with shoes at a young age. According to an interview with Newsweek magazine, Louboutin once visited a museum in Paris that had a sign which banned women from wearing stilettos indoors because they could scratch the parquet floors. This intrigued him and he became fascinated with these shoes. It was the 1970s and most women were wearing platform shoes. After perfecting his skills, he worked for Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Charles Jourdan. Louboutin opened his first boutique in 1991. It was located in Paris and Princess Caroline of Monoco was an early client.
