  • The Red Sole

    After opening a small boutique in Paris, Louboutin continued to toy with the design of his shoes after being inspired by a sign at the Museum of Oceanic Art that requested women should be careful not to scratch the wooden floor with their shoes. With this, Louboutin continued to think about the sole design of the shoe and soon decided to trademark it after seeing one of his employee's red Chanel nail polish on. Immediately, he decided to paint the bottoms red.
  • Sole Desire

    • An exhibition called Sole Desire: The Shoes of Christian Louboutin, was held at the NY Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology from March 13 through April 19, 2008. The event featured his footware designs, but also included Louboutin's contributions to modern fashion. Before branching out on his own, the shoe designer worked with Maud Frizon, Chanel, and Yves Saint Laurent.
