Christian Brothers University is a private Roman Catholic university of higher education that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the arts, business, engineering, the sciences and teacher education.
History
In 1871, the Institute of the Brothers of Christian Schools, a Roman Catholic religious teaching congregation, was requested by the city of Memphis to open a school.
CBU started as a combined elementary school, high school and college, but would become a four-year institution in 1953. It opened its doors to both sexes in 1970 and today more than half of the student body is made up of women.CBU: History
