  • Chris Young is a Starting pitcher for the San Diego Padres. Although his career started slowly in the minors and with the Texas Rangers. Young has established himself as an all-star caliber pitcher and clutch performer. He would win a playoff game as the starting pitcher in 2006 against the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2007, Young was voted the Final Man into the National League All-Star Team.

  • Early Life

    Christopher Ryan Young was born in Dallas, Texas on May 25, 1979. He would attend High school at Highland Park High School in Texas. He would later move on to attend college at Princeton University where he would play baseball, as well as basketball. In a unique display of his athletic prowess he would be named the Ivy League rookie of the year in Baseball and Basketball. Young would be drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round of the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft, than in 2002 he would be traded to the Montreal Expos. He would spend several seasons in the the Expos minor league system before being traded again in 2004 to the Texas Rangers.

  • Pro Career

    Young would make his Major League debut on August 24, 2004 with the Texas Rangers. He would struggle in his first several seasons with the Rangers and would eventually be traded with Adrian Gonzalez to the San Diego Padres. In 2006 he would have a break out season with the Padres with a record of 11 wins and 5 losses with an Earned run Average of 3.46. In the 2006 post season, against the St. Louis Cardinals, he would pitch in the Padres only winning game in the series. Young would establish himself as an All-Star pitcher in 2007, winning the Final Man Vote into the All-Star Game.
