• Chris Williams was an All-American offensive tackle for the Vanderbilt University Football Team. He was a first-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.

• The Early Years

  Williams and his twin sister were born the town of Glynn, Louisiana. At Baton Rouge's Catholic High School he earned both athletic and scholastic honors, being selected to both the all-conference and all-region teams and the Louisiana Class 5A All-State Academic Team. He also was elected vice-president of Catholic High's chapter of the National Honor Society.

• At Vanderbilt

  In 2003, Williams enrolled at Vanderbilt University as an Civil Engineering Major. He was red-shirted for the 2003 season and academically ineligible for the 2004 season, spending his second season assigned to the scout team.

  With nine starting assignments, 2005 would mark his emergence as an outstanding offensive lineman. In 2006, he would be voted second-team All-SEC as well as being selected as the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman by the Vanderbilt coaching staff.

  In 2007, as a senior and offensive co-captain, his outstanding play would earn him a consensus All-SEC selection as well as being named a third-team All-American.

• The NFL Draft

  In May 2008, Williams participated in the 2008 NFL Draft Combine. His performance at the combine resulted in a ranking of third out of 167 offensive tackles and a ranking of 18th out of the 2,250 participants in the Combine.

  He was selected 14th overall by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the draft. The Bears see him as a starting left tackle, filling a hole in their current offensive line.
