Chris Simon

Canadian professional hockey player Chris Simon most recently played for the Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League. In May of 2008, it was reported that he signed with the Vityaz Chekhov in Russia.TSN.ca: Reports: Chris Simon signs with Russian club (May 19, 2008) Simon is widely regarded as a very physical player and has been suspended several times for intentionally injuring fellow players.

Simon was drafted 25th overall in the 1990 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. Following the draft, he continued to play for his junior team in the Ontario Hockey League, the Ottawa 67's. On July 21, 1992, he was traded to the Quebec Nordiques, where he made his NHL debut that same year. After relocating with the franchise in 1995 as they became the Colorado Avalanche, Simon helped the team win the Stanley Cup Championship in 1996. On November 2, 1996, he was traded to the Washington Capitals, where he played for nearly six seasons. Starting in 2002, Simon was traded five times, first to the Chicago Blackhawks, to the New York Rangers in 2003, to the Calgary Flames in 2004, to the New York Islanders in 2006 and to the Minnesota Wild in 2008.
