NFL Career
Chris Simms was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003. Simms sat on the bench for his entire rookie season. He finally saw playing time in 2004 as a backup. He then became the starter in 2005. Early in the 2006 season, Simms received a hard hit from the Carolina Panthers defense. Although he finished the game, Simms was taken to the hospital afterwards and had emergency surgery to repair his ruptured spleen. Simms missed the rest of the season, as well as the entire 2007 season. Simms was released from the Buccaneers in August of 2008, then signed with the Tennessee Titans on September 9, 2008.
