Pop singer Chris Richardson was the sixth place finalist on the sixth season of the hit reality series singing competition American Idol.
Early history
Richardson was born to Phyllis and Danny Richardson in Belgium while his father was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia in 1999 where he completed high school. He entered Christopher Newport University in Newport News, where he studied music composition and played football for one year and furthered his musical education at Tidewater Community College. Richardson worked as a kitchen supervisor at Hooters.
And the girls swooned
Richardson auditioned for American Idol in New York and the judges liked him, comparing his attitude and style to Justin Timberlake. He was eliminated after his rendition of Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" failed to bring in votes from the American public after making it to the top five. After the conclusion of the show, he went out on the American Idols Tour 2007 joined by the top 10 finalists of the season.
After Idol
His first EP was released June 12, 2007. On February 28, 2008 his single "All Alone" was leaked on the internet and since been released. Richardson has co-written many songs for other Idols, including "What'cha Got 2 Lose" on the debut album from Blake Lewis. He has also written for Jordin Sparks and Phil Stacey, and has a deal to write with Gina Glocksen.
