  • Chris Long is a defensive end that was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 2008 NFL Draft and played for the University of Virginia. He is also the son of former defensive end Howie Long.
  • College Career

    In Long's first season for the University of Virginia he only played six of the regular season games due to illnesses. Every year after this, Long improved his tackling ability and continued to make his number of tackles and tackles for loss go up every year until he was drafted in the 2008 NFL Draft. When Long entered the 2007 season he was strongly considered for several awards including the Outland Trophy, Bednarik Trophy and Hendricks Award. On Long's final game he was named player of game with the win over Texas Tech University.

    Long was drafted in the 2008 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams and was considered one of the top defensive picks in the draft by Sports Illustrated.
