Washington Governor Chris Gregoire is running for re-election in 2008. She faces a strong challenge from Republican Dino Rossi. Gregoire defeated Rossi in 2004 to win the governorship.

In 2004, Gregoire and Rossi faced off in the Washington gubernatorial election. In the closest election in Washington state history, Gregoire defeated Rossi by only 129 votes.
