    Gratton was waived by the Lightning on December 9, 2008. He cleared waivers and was assigned to the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. It was however not known if Gratton would report to Norfolk.   • NHL Career

    Gratton was drafted third overall in the 1993 NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He joined the Lightning for his NHL debut that same year and played every regular season game with the team over his first four seasons in the league. On August 14, 1997, Gratton was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. He played for the Flyers for 16 months before he was sent back to the Lightning on December 12, 1998. After nearly two additional seasons with the Lightning, he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres on March 9, 2000. Gratton's next move came in 2003, when he was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes. Shortly before the 2004-05 NHL lockout, he was sent to the Colorado Avalanche. He played just 13 games with the Avalanche, then entered the free agency and signed with the Florida Panthers on August 12, 2005. He played two seasons in Florida before he was sent back to the Lightning on June 13, 2007.
