Chris Gomez is an infielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Out of high school, the California Angeles selected Gomez in the 37th round of the 1989 amateur draft. After attending Loyola Marymount University, Gomez transfered to Long Beach State, where he was an All-American. Following his college career, Gomez signed with the Detroit Tigers after they drafted him in the 3rd round of the 1992 draft. Gomez made his major leaguedebut with the Tigers on July 19, 1993.
