After singer Rihanna was battered by Chris Brown, talk show host Oprah Winfrey dedicated a show to domestic violence and advised women in situations similar to Rihanna's to stay away from abusive men because they "will hit you again."
In September 2009 Brown said Winfrey's comment was like a "slap in the face" since he was involved with the opening of Winfrey's school for girls in Africa. Winfrey said although she was grateful that he visited the school, "domestic violence is something I wouldn't tolerate.
