Major League Baseball relief pitcher Chris Bootcheck currently plays for Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Prior to his MLB career, Bootcheck played baseball at Auburn University. He was drafted on June 5, 2000 in the first round of the MLB Draft by the then named Anaheim Angels. In 2001, Bootcheck began his minor league career, playing with the Angels' affiliates for his first few years of conditioning.
On September 9, 2003, Bootcheck was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels. He played only four games during the 2003 season, spending most of the time in the minors. He joined the Angels for five games in 2004, pitching 18.7 innings and finishing the season with a career best 3.38 ERA in the MLB.
Bootcheck returned to the Angels for the 2006 season, playing in six games. A hamstring injury he suffered in May cased him to miss the majority of the season. In 2007 he played in a career high 51 games with the Angels, tallying three wins and finishing with a 4.77 ERA.
His role on the 2008 Angels roster is yet to be determined, as he missed the first part of the season with a strained oblique.
